DSR Replaces Schneider Senator with POLAR Guillotine
05.09.2007
Groomed in the trade to believe that POLAR was the top
guillotine you could buy, Derek Church, director of DSR Print
Finishers, was surprised to discover just how affordable these
latest generation machines are.
The Hertford trade finishers reviewed the cutting market
extensively before deciding which model to buy. The POLAR 115X
arrives at the plant this week to replace a 14-year-old Schneider
Senator cutter.
Mr Church's co-director, Dave Tharby, worked previously with
Keldia as bindery manager, where he sanctioned the purchase of
Schneider Senator machines, so when he switched to DSR that
relationship continued. Now he agrees with Mr Church that the POLAR
is the best available technology today.
"We went to the Brentford open house and saw the POLAR and we
were surprised by how price competitive it was. We rely on our
cutting. If you can speed up that process, the whole operation
benefits," says Mr Church.
With apprenticeships being a thing of the past, people tend
to be trained up to a specific machine, and DSR Print Finishers
were especially impressed by the user-friendliness of the POLAR
115X.
"It's very user friendly; the graphics tell you exactly what
to do which makes it fullproof," says Mr Church.
"You have to invest to keep up. You have to remain efficient
and quality-minded and one step ahead of the competitors."
The company is a cut-fold-stitch-trim specialist, handling
cutting work with 200 items on a B1 sheet to halving the sheet.
Most of its work is local to Hertford but the company has a
"have-van-will-travel mentality" and this has drawn in more work
from London and the Home Counties.
The company operates a flexible shift pattern to meet the
diverse and time-critical needs of its customers. Its brochure
defines DSR as Dedication - Service - Reliability.
