“Designers are specifying more demanding work on heavier boards with ever decreasing turnaround times,” says Andrew Morgan, partner of London SE1 commercial printing company Ripping Image.
It is for this reason the company is investing in its first multi-colour B2 press, a Speedmaser CD 74-6LX which will accommodate heavy board and produce unrivalled quality at astounding speed.
Printing CMYK, two specials plus coating in one pass the press will replace its B3 Speedmaster SM 52-6 and create further capacity. “We’re in the high quality end of the market and to date we have specialised in short runs; with the B2 CD 74 we will be competitive in the medium run sector as well,” says Mr Morgan.
The company looked at a broad selection of presses but the CD 74 came out tops overall on the criteria set. The heavy rolling power, fast makeready times and stock flexibility were key advantages, giving Ripping Image that decisive competitive edge.
The CD 74 will be installed in February and will work 12 hour Continental shifts, six days a week. The company works for many of the leading London agencies as well as some large corporate companies.
