Heidelberg Offers Round the Clock Remote Service

Heidelberg has extended its Internet-based remote service to give 24 hour cover on presses and Prinect ImageControl colour measuring system.

Bob Higgins, marketing manager for customer service, says: “This development has come about to meet the needs of the long perfector users in particular. Any company with high capital equipment which is run around the clock will benefit from 24 hour remote service.”

To date the availability has been 06.00 hours to 22.00 hours Monday to Friday and 06.00 hours to 14.00 hours on Saturday. This will remain the standard but companies who need 24/6 remote service back up will be available at an additional average cost of £1,200 per press a year.

“Remote service means a problem can be diagnosed faster and the correct parts identified and sent prior to an engineer visit,” says Mr Higgins. “It is a tremendous condition monitoring tool as well because Heidelberg can notify a customer if it believes a part is performing badly or an item needs checking. It gives the operator more confidence to know there is back up even on night shift and we anticipate a strong take up of this service throughout the UK.”

Only in the last few months Heidelberg’s Remote Service has been accessible via the Internet meaning that users require no additional hardware but simply a broadband connection.

This is part of an extension of Heidelberg’s full range of service products
- badged as systemservice. The company has also extended its eSelfhelp services where printers can dial up to get answers to technical or maintenance questions via the web and find answers or be given answers online. Printers have to have a service contact and be given an access number to use this facility.

A new Service Handbook is also being distributed and can be supplied to printers who call 020 8490 6080.
