E Petch Printers in Tameside has added a Stahlfolder Ti52 buckle folder from Heidelberg just months after installing a Printmaster PM 52-2 press and a Polar 92 guillotine. The folder will be delivered next month.
The company has also acquired a new unit where it will concentrate its finishing, giving it greater control over the timing of work which is vital in its small to medium run fast turnround market. It will also allow it to increase the volume of trade finishing it handles for other printers.
Director Geoff Edwards says: “We had a Morgana but needed additional folding capacity. We looked at both MBO and Heidelberg but came down in favour of the Ti52 because it represented best value for money and suited our needs best. We are a Heidelberg house and know the quality of their machines. It is also a benefit that the man who heads up our finishing has Stahlfolder experience.”
E Petch chose a buckle folder because it suited the broadsheet format of much of its timetable and poster work. The folder will run double day shifts in line with other parts of the business, pumping out work for a client base which is 50 percent from the Manchester area and 50 percent national.
