Fox Print Services Switches to B1 Suprasetter

21.09.2005
Fox Print Services has switched its CtP order from a
Suprasetter 74 to a Suprasetter 102, an indication that it will make a move into B1 format printing, possibly next year.

Director Simon Jupp says: "We want the new Suprasetter technology. We are making this move to get the speed, reliability and option to run processless plates. We will be trialling processless plates towards the end of the year to gain not only environmental benefits but savings in chemistry costs and time as well."

Currently the company uses KPG Electra plates and it will trial KPG’s Thermal Direct.

”We have switched to B1 format on the bases we will move into that market. We had been looking at buying another B2 press, possibly a ten-colour, but we now feel that with the mix of work we have a move to B1 is viable. We are buying the Suprasetter with the future in mind.”

The Suprasetter 102 comes with a single cassette loader with interchange- able carriages and with a stacker to take plates off and stack them without scratching. There is increasing demand for automation with CtP systems today.

The CtP investment is being made only after the company has upgraded to Printready automated workflow. That has been in since the start of the year and with the Suprasetter Fox Print Services will also add in Metashooter which will allow it to output files ripped using Metadimension on either the automated Suprasetter or the retained Topsetter, both thermal devices supplied by Heidelberg.

The company will house both CtP systems in a room kept at optimum temperature and humidity. It has also just invested £10,000 in ensuring the pressroom conditions are good for staff and for the two Speedmaster SM 74-6 presses and paper to work at consistently high quality standards.

Fox Print Services is a leading supporter of JDF networking and already has its Prinance MIS system, prepress and press fully linked for speed of set up closed loop colour and real time and real life management feedback. When the company upgrades its finishing it will do so with linkability in mind.

The company moved to new 13,500 square-foot premises earlier this year. It operates 24 hours a day, six days a week.
