Haslam Printers has added Image Control to give it fully closed loop colour and replaced a 21-year-old POLAR 92EM with the latest model, a POLAR 92X with stacklift.
The Chorley company has completely updated its finishing over the last two years, adding two Stahlfolders (a buckle and a combination model) and a Stitchmaster ST 100 four-station with cover feeder.
Now it is replacing the back up guillotine and making its lead guillotine the back up to the 92X. The cutter is going in this week and training is underway.
Managing Director David Haslam says: “This latest model is a lot heavier and more robust and is obviously a lot faster with more sophisticated programming. Health and Safety is a big issue and this is the principle reason behind us specifying a stacklift although we know that materials handling does bring productivity advantages.”
The company has also bought Image Control which is currently running on its Speedmaster SM 74-5 but will also be connected to its Speedmaster SM 52-5 so that there is closed loop colour and improved quality and productivity throughout the pressroom.
The company already uses Prepress Interface to link its prepress and press operations and in all its purchases it is very JDF-minded.
Currently the company’s pressroom runs double day shifts and the finishing department days, extended as needed. In this way it is able to offer a responsive service to its spread of commercial customers. 60 percent based in the north west and the remaining 40 percent from all around the UK.
