The success of its Printmaster QM 46-2 has led to a bottleneck in finishing so Classique Print & Design in Colchester has returned to Heidelberg to buy a POLAR 66 programmatic guillotine.
Partner Ian Stein says: “We installed the QM 46 two years ago and as soon as we started pricing out with this press we were achieving 85 percent conversion to order. We are asked to handle really small orders through to jobs involving 120,000 letterheads or 60,000 envelopes and everyone wants, and gets, good service and fast turnround. But with the larger volumes we could see a growing bottleneck in cutting and so now we are having to re-equip to safeguard the speed on throughput.”
The POLAR 66 replaces a Duplo 490 which was nearing the end of its working life. The company looked around but liked the versatility of the programmatic Polar and the fact it could handle a broad range of stock.
The guillotine will be installed next month at the company’s farm unit. The company primarily handles small local business and larger contracts from the North East Essex area.
