Geoff Neal Litho is replacing a Speedmaster SM 102 with a Speedmaster CD 102-6 six-colour press this month.
“We like the CD 102 model because it has faster running speeds and is more flexible. It will allow us to print great solids and to print on thicker boards which is important because we handle everything from little to large,” says managing director Geoff Neal.
With six units the company can add a special and a seal or two specials to four-colour process work.
The press follows on from a TH82 buckle folder which has been installed to give maximum folding options for section and leaflet work.
“People don’t change their finishing equipment as regularly as their presses. It is mad for the tail end of production to be the tail end of technology. Now we have computer set up and significantly improved makeready times and running speeds. That means we can get more work through, faster,” he says.
Two years ago the company bought its first saddle-stitcher,an ST100, to eliminate ‘dead time’ placing work out and to improve control and save itself £4,000 a month in outsourcing costs.
Geoff Neal Litho operates out of a 14,500 square feet factory in Feltham. From here if offers London and marketing agencies a 24 hour service. Its niche is in the direct mail and promotional print and offers both litho offset and digital printing facilities. According to its accessible and navigable web site (www.geoffneallitho.co.uk) the company offers “Printelligence, the application of an intelligent approach to print and mailing services”.
